International report highlights importance of cooperation around climate and health
May 2025
The recently published report "Climate & Health: Priorities and Best Practices" from Global Nation shows how strongly climate change and health are linked. What once did not seem obvious is now increasingly recognized worldwide: the climate crisis is a health crisis. At the same time, the authors warn that this recognition is under pressure.
The report provides an overview of the latest insights and practices at the intersection of climate and health. Experts provide examples of what is going well - such as innovative financing mechanisms and local initiatives following the COVID-19 pandemic - but also what needs to be improved. For example, poor collaboration, limited resources and fragmented policies remain major challenges.
One of the key lessons: we need to work better together, not just within health care, but also with other sectors such as energy, infrastructure and education. Ten international case studies show how policymakers and communities worldwide are tackling this - from international legislation to action at the neighborhood level.
